1. Watch recording duration
4K video: A 4K video often reaches 100MB after just 15 to 30 seconds.
1080p (Full HD): This is the standard. You can film approximately 1 to 2 minutes before reaching the limit.
720p (HD Ready): To send a longer instructional video (e.g. 3 to 5 minutes), consider lowering your camera settings to 720p.
2. File compression is your best friend
If a video is slightly too large (e.g. 120MB), you do not need to shorten it. Free tools or apps (such as Video Compressor or online services) can reduce its size without visible quality loss. WhatsApp does this automatically, but on this platform you sometimes need to handle it yourself.
3. External hosting for long videos
Want to share a complete 20-minute workout or long webinar? 100MB is simply not enough. In that case, the best approach is:
Upload the video to YouTube (as an unlisted video) or Vimeo.
Share the link in the chat or news post.
4. Recording directly versus uploading
Videos recorded directly on your smartphone are often uncompressed and therefore large. If an upload fails, the file is likely just over the 100MB limit.
5. Quick check before sending
Always check the size in the video file's properties on your phone or computer.
iPhone: Tap 'i' on a video in your photo library to see its size in MB.
Android: Look under 'Details' in the gallery.
In short, 100MB is more than enough for short instructions, personal encouragement or quick updates, but longer content needs appropriate settings or links.
